All of the Forge World Chaos Space Marine characters, including the Chaos Hellwright, on and off his Dark Abeyant. Finally, the dark horse that I am hoping doesnt turn out to go anywhere of the units in this book with titan in their name, the Revenant Titan is probably closest to being decent in a Strike Force game. Its great to see all these characters represented still, as a lot are from very old IA books. Hes still got two casts and denies and is still way nastier/tougher in a fight than most equivalents, so may still be the one of the better inquisition options. The third big change is the inclusion of the Martial Legacyrule. He did also get whats probably a downgrade in being declared a Terminator, but if you were planning on warping him in anyway its much of a muchness. The Ares getting a points increase, and being potentially worse vs hordes could be a big deal in the long run. I think it is fair to say however that there was a wide gulf in the balance and efficiency of these units. The one sting in the tail here is that hes returned with theSpeedwaaagh! A vindicator: cool. Thats exactly it. In the same way as Space Marines, the Traitors also have to spend an additional CP if they want to take a Martial Legacy unit. This is a much better way of the unit working and makes my life as a Krieg commander much easier in terms of having to previously try and fence off the crew to stop them getting charged! I think theyll kind of fight with each other for the same role, but both have their advantages. Massive thanks to @warhammerofficial for sending us a free review copy of Angron! This means that until we see an FAQ or errata saying otherwise, these units areoff-limits to Thousand Sons and Death Guard. In contrast to the previous Imperial Armour Index volumes, this book is hardback too so will not only match the rest of your 9th Edition Codex collection, but also last a little longer in better condition! This makes the Exalted Daemons much easier to take in a game, and I cant wait to include them in lists again as they are some of my favourite models and deserve to be on the battlefield again! The Hades Breaching Drill can also finally carry Combat Engineers too, something that was overlooked in the previous index. Ultimately, its a stronger unit, but its still a Lord of War. Change). Wings: Seriously, this thing is off the charts good now, to the point where I wonder if the melta shots change is a typo this seems to out-compete most main battle tanks, never mind transports. 9ed Imperial Armour - Compendium PDF Original Title: 9ed Imperial Armour - Compendium.pdf Uploaded by Copyright: All Rights Reserved Available Formats Download as PDF or read online from Scribd Flag for inappropriate content Download now of 212 None of them.and all of them. Warhammer 40,000 Imperial Armour: Compendium is available now from Forge World for 40. Any turn you get to play with it isextremely stupid it has a casual 30 move so can essentially teleport around the battlefield with impunity, its weaponry and melee threat are dangerous and broadly applicable, and to cap it all off its a MONSTER rather than a VEHICLE, shutting down some armies answers to it. Grey Knights get a variant of the Land Raider which has psycannons on it, for some reason with a different profile than seen on normal ones. Innocuous but also undeniably winners we have Tetras, which trade out their one shot, three tokens markerlight for a markerlight that just has heavy 3, while going down 5pts each to boot. Learn how your comment data is processed. Venatari Custodians[ CORE]: Woo buddy, am I excited. itll rarely be worth it to spend 3 CP to take one. Goonhammer and Stat Check are Teaming Up! Nice buff, and considering they are my favorite troop unit, I am certainly not complaining. The Las Pulsar is a whole 20 points cheaper!?!?!?! All told, the leviathan takes a substantial hit to both offense and defense, balanced out by dropping all the way down to a base 220 points, and only up to 240 with the common double storm cannon loadout. First and foremost are the Astra Militarum which also includes a new Regimental Doctrine for the Death Korps of Krieg. The double shooting Spiculus if you didnt move ability moved to the weapon, so functionally the same, and gained the dread -1D ability. While were going to dig into the highlights and lowlights of individual units below, our overall impression is that there was a significant smoothing over of the entire book. Also Available on Spotify & Google Podcasts, The Hive Tyrant was one of the first models I ever painted for Warhammer 40k, so when I saw an unpainted one on ebay I knew I had to paint it up in honour of it! Carab Culln takes most of the generic leviathan nerfs (see below), and also loses out on both his feel no pain aura and most of the interest from the death-hold special rule it no longer lets you hit for mortal wounds and simply lets the heavy bolter fire with no penalty at units in engagement range. Custodes Telemon Dreadnought. The Night Shrouds bomb is still one use only, which is a little disappointing but thankfully gets a small points cut. A bright point is his dreadfire claw switching from damage D6 to damage 4, but without the absurd durability he used to have, and without the choice of warlord traits, hes not bringing much to the table. Venatari, Dreads, and Aquilon come out looking pretty damn good with the new FW book. This tradeoff is whatever right now; nothing you really want to take has Smokescreen. Wait, WHAT!?! [2], Warhammer Community: The Codex Show (posted 9/12/2020), Forge World Webstore: Imperial Armour Compendium, Warhammer Community: Inside Imperial Armour: Compendium (26/10/20), Vol. Depending on how the meta moves, this could help or hinder the Ares. At least they are 10 points cheaper now for every build except double claws (which stayed the same). So what do I think of the new book? As a bonus, he doesnt have Martial Legacy, so wont be costing you a CP to field. Find company research, competitor information, contact details & financial data for SYNLAB HAUTS DE FRANCE of ROUBAIX, HAUTS DE FRANCE. In the points section these are listed correctly however. Theyre still not amazing they dropped from being toughness 9 down to toughness 8, though picked up a bit of improvement in their guns. But usable. Any weapons that Forgeworld doesnt currently make in 28mm are gone, so goodbye to reaver chainfists and carapace weapons that arent the apocalypse missile launcher and warlord carapace weapons that arent apocalypse launchers or laser blasters. Such a fun and nostalgic time painting this up - used @redgrassgames wet palettes, @duncanjrhodes and @thearmypainter paints and can't wait to paint up some more! There isnt any massive rules changes, but some minor adjustments and a few buffs/discounts scattered around (or in the case of Venatari, a minor change with a HUGE impact). People are sad about the leviathan, but before the compendium he was approaching a Knight in points, had terrible rules, was more expensive than the loyalist version and his guns were average. #warhammercommunity #warhammer #warhammer40k #khorne #angron #worldeaters #40k #arksofomen #paintingwarhammer #paintingforgeworld #painting #paintings #miniatures #miniaturespainting #warmongers #ad. The other builds havent gone downas much as the HPL build, but with every build getting cheaper and a buff being applied to a unit that was already playable makes these the clearest, standout winner here. We also have full reviews of both Codex Supplement: Space Wolves and Codex Supplement: Deathwatch, both also up for preorder today! Todays Forgeworld Preorders Imperial Armour Compendium andNecromunda! Hellforged Leviathan Dreadnought. Just check out the contents page below! Astraeus! Ultimately, it does still get hard-countered by some flavours of hordes, and any game played with it is going to be a knife edge of making sure you dont get charged by a melee killing machine, but in a similar way to the Taunar in 8th I can see people picking it up and running it to 3-2 finishes or the occasional 4-1. The Lynx also gets a substantial simplification and a cost reduction, and probably ends up more practical out of it. In Lords of War land the Cobra and Scorpion also both got respectable point cuts and arebetter than they used to be, but probably still dont have a serious role in lists. You have to agree that is a massive amount of profiles available in the book! Just like the other 40k Codexes it includes a code in the back of the book that unlocks these profiles in the Warhammer 40k app too giving you an easy way of accessing the content on the move. Note that all of these datasheets are considered to have theHateful Assaultrule since they have all rules that apply to all Chaos Space Marines datasheets, but its not listed on the datasheets here themselves, making it one of the more roundabout ways of doing this. TheInquisition retain only their two Named Characters. At the moment this profile only applies to the Macharius twin variant, however it would not surprise me to see that profile in the new AM book! The Grey Knights also get a couple of updated profiles with a renamed Land Raider Banisher, getting a small points discount and a Grey Knight specific Thunderhawk getting a massive discount in line with the new profile elsewhere in the book. The big greater daemon models are still neat, but you arent really going to field them. Orion Assault Dropship: Other than it has less attacks when degraded, entirely unchanged, same points etc. Across the board most special rules have moved from being specifically written out on datasheets to referencing back to Codex: Space Marines. 44.3M . Already very good, the Terrax picks up several buffs that cement it as the premiere way to transport firstborn marines. I have been crying out for the Augmented Mount to be usable on any strength of attack, as previously this was locked to S4 and below only, which was a little situational. Nice of you to share! If you disable this cookie, we will not be able to save your preferences. Credit: Jack Hunter. They killed my DKOK, thanks a lot after buying a Gorgon. The Kustom Stompa not only gets a decent points cut to 800 points, but also gets ome much improved weapons such as the Belly Gun now getting 3D6 shots! The bad news is, it now degrades in much more boring fashion, losing Movement, WS, and BS (dropping to 5+), but it doesnt lose any Attacks or Strength, so at least theres that. Sadly, the loss of the OG FW index habit of just slapping BS2+ on everything big hits Tau among the hardest. The melee weapons got a substantial shakeup too, the leviathan no longer loses attacks for taking guns, and instead always has at least 4 attacks each siege claw gives an additional attack with that weapon, and the siege drill does 2d3 damage against most targets, or 6 damage against vehicles. We also see some sneak peaks at what weapons may look like in a future Astra Militarum book with a Vanquisher cannon being listed as S16, AP -4, D9 with +1 to hit Vehicles and Monsters I am suddenly very glad i went with rule of cool and armed my Krieg Leman Russ with a Vanquisher cannon! Credit: CrabStuffedMushrooms. You Give Goonhammer Writers Serotonin. BIG bonus. Engineers are less exciting they lose their weird super shotguns and are basically kind of boring. His feel no pain drops from a 4+ down to a 5+, and his dreadfire heavy flamers lose a point of damage (though they do increase their range up to 12). The only other change is to the bombs, which is drastically different. The book itself is split into 4 sections broadly following the split of the old Imperial Armour Indexes Forces of the Adeptus Astartes, Forces of the Imperium, Forces of Chaos and Forces of Xenos. Im here to talk about CHAOS! In the past, there were a few standout units that could be found in almost any army (looking at you contemptors and leviathans), and a lot of units that were just nowhere near usable. Games Workshop provided Sprues & Brews a copy of this book for review purposes. Grav tanks and the Ares. Caladius Grav-Tank: Lost the -2 to charge grav ability, kept fly. In this book you. Similar to the Space Marines we get a lot of traitor variants added, along with a new stratagem Smokescreen added in order to replicte the ability that Space Marines currently get in their book, again future proofing this volume until the Chaos Space Marines book is updated! Thats especially true because. While recently they havent needed them quite as much, there were certainly times when Hellforged Deredeos and Leviathans were big business, and Ive run a Kytan Ravager on more than one occasion. Their weapons have been massively simplified, now having either an 18 Assault d6 Blast mode thats S5 AP-1 OR a 24 Assault 1 S6 AP-3 D3 shot. It does get cheaper, dropping to 1000pts, but the BATTLESUIT keyword is nowhere to be found on its datasheet, leaving without its primary means of defending itself. RIP. This seems a really fun way of making Titans useable in a normal game, and Im looking forward to seeing how my titans fare as soon as we are able to film battles again! Combined with the contents of the new Space Marines Codex you will be able to carry the torch for these under represented armies! It doesnt cost half as many points its dropped from 235 points down to 170. Hazardsalso seem OK they get a substantial point cut in exchange for losing a single wound and thats probably a net positive, just about. This is because it is only 1500pts, leaving you enough leftovers to putsomething in your list to contest objectives, and its statline is a wild ride. Stillprobably not durable enough for how hard it is to hide and the cost, but much, much closer to something you want. Units have also had the CORE keyword added, setting them up to be futureproofed for a future Custodes Codex. The points have gone up a little, but taking everything together Ithink theres still a unit here, just sitting in a very different role than we used to see. Telemon Heavy Dreadnought: Besides the Plasma flamer bumping up to 12 range, the stats/weapons are unchanged (still T8 baby, WOOOOOOOO). In an edition that prioritizes having bodies to take objectives and keep your opponent off theirs, spending several hundred points on a single tank thats going to have trouble moving around is already a tough sell, and adding a big additional CP cost is a tough pill to swallow. The Regimental Doctrine for Krieg was shown off on Warcom and is kind ofeh not really lighting up the world. Acastus Knights! Acanthrites also get a decent point cut to pay back their loss of BS, and definitely end up as a better unit out of it, even if I struggle to see myself ever taking them over more Skorpekh. Grab a brew and paint/chat with us! They overly complicated old void shield rules have disappeared, now using the new rules we talked about for the Astraeus. Imperial Armour Compendium is an Imperial Armour book for the 9th Edition of Warhammer 40,000. Also randomly lost 1 point in base strength characteristic, not that is was any good in melee anyway. Still immunity to melta extra damage? They also, while alive, provide a 5+ invulnerable save. There are two wide-reaching rules for marines. It changes a reasonable amount the weapon goes to D2 rather than D3but the Nova charge mode is now just a flat 9 shots per fun (so 18 total), it goes up to S7 when you Nova it, and the whole package has come down a cool 110pts. If any of them have game its probablyScabeiathrax, who benefits from having a whole bunch of nasty offensive options while being durable for their new cost. On the plus side, almost all of them saw points drops, except the Castigator. Also, if you really want something dead in melee you can choose to swap out Smite forWitch Strike and just absolutely go to town on them. Thankfully they do also get a small benefit in the ability for a vehicle to fire on a 4+ when they are killed, making it a danger at times to take out Krieg vehicles, especially ones with nasty weapons! A welcome an unexpected change, in addition to the fact that the Solerite Gauntlet is now flat 2 damage (fuck you D3 damage). The Death Korps also get a Regimental Doctrine and datasheets for their unique Death Rider models. As with the Space Marines we see a number of points adjustments that bring both of these forces in line with each other. It had a good run. Realistically, though theyre cheap you probably still want Leman Russes over them, since they get double the shots most of the time and can take Orders. Now it can be done every turn (which is a pretty nice change), pick a spot on the board that it moved over, and every unit within 6 takes D3 mortals on a 4+ (-1 to the roll for non vehicle/monster characters). #warhammercommunity #warhammer #warhammer40k #oldhammer #oldhammer40k #40k #2ndedition #2ndedition40k #tyranids #tyranid #nids #paintingwarhammer #painting #paintingminiatures #miniatures #miniaturespainting #hobby #wargames #wargaming #metal #alien #hivetyrant #warmongers, Awesome fun stream working on the 90s Hive Tyrant! The Imperial Armour books have also featured a few less well known successor chapters over the years, and Imperial Armour Compendium features suggested chapter tactics to best represent the way they fight I love this and gives players a framework towards designing their chapter to best fit the lore and narrative of the army as reflected in Warhammer 40k literature! GW noticed that theGargantuan Squiggothhad no business being as cheap as it was, and have substantially hiked the price. Credits: That Gobbo. At that point, given their defensive profile and the fact that they can just flatten stuff in melee, I think theres a plausible argument for trying three of these as a silly gimmick build. Only once all shields are down can you start pumping damage into the Titan itself. It also has a much more sturdy defensive profile, and an improved version of the thermal jets rule for stuff it flies over. which get a few tweaks but dont change massively. will find the Warhammer 40,000 datasheets for the entire range. We also get a nice two page spread telling the tale of the Death Korps of Krieg and the hellish world they herald from. off-limits to Thousand Sons and Death Guard, Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window), Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window), Daniel "Skails" Rodenberg, Charlie B, "Primaris" Kevin Genson, Robert "TheChirurgeon" Jones and SRM, James "One_Wing" Grover, Peter "The Falcon" Colosimo, Jeremy "Curie" Atkinson and Lowest of Men, James "One_Wing" Grover, Peter "The Falcon" Colosimo, Lowest of Men and Jeremy "Curie" Atkinson, Matthew "Rockfish" Herrington, Colin Ward, SRM, MasterSlowPoke, Jack Hunter and Liam "Corrode" Royle, Mike Bettle-Shaffer, Robert "TheChirurgeon" Jones and BuffaloChicken, Robert "TheChirurgeon" Jones and MildNorman, Codex Supplement Space Wolves: The Goonhammer Review, How to Paint Everything: Draculas (and other Vampires), incredibly official Goonhammer store on RedBubble.
